John Cena appeared live via satellite from Tampa, Fla., where The Cenation Leader is rehabbing his arm injury. Cena said a group of doctors have strongly recommended he not compete for the next couple of months. The Cenation Leader claimed that the Board of Directors wanted to fine the General Manager, but he told them to forgo any disciplinary action because the only fitting punishment for Laurinaitis is to get beaten and embarrassed at Over the Limit.

Following the first season of WWE NXT, Wade Barrett immediately formed The Nexus with his fellow Rookies, and took WWE by storm with a brazen attack on John Cena. Daniel Bryan, one of the group’s members, felt remorse for the assault and was unceremoniously dismissed. For more than two months, The Nexus made their presence felt throughout WWE, complaining about the treatment they received on NXT and focusing their attacks on Cena. After refusing offers to join the group, Cena formed a super team of WWE’s best who had all been victims of The Nexus – Edge, Chris Jericho, John Morrison, R-Truth, The Great Khali and WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. Team WWE was set to face off with The Nexus in a massive Elimination Match at SummerSlam, but the former Rookies eliminated Khali from the equation. Seemingly down a Superstar, John Cena revealed that the final member of Team WWE was none other than the returning Bryan. The contest came down to the two leaders, John Cena and Wade Barrett, who submitted to Cena’s STF – a critical win that halted The Nexus’ momentum in WWE. (WATCH)

John Cena may have looked the worse for wear after his classic battle against a ferocious Brock Lesnar Sunday night at WWE Extreme Rules, but at the end of the night, the Cenation Leader came away with one of the most impressive wins in WWE history.

Bloodied and battered, Cena dug deep and somehow managed to overcome Lesnar’s dominance in what was unquestionably one of the most brutal matches the WWE Universe has ever witnessed. It is the toughness and heart displayed by Cena that catapults him to the No. 1 spot this week — an honor that the Cenation Commander-in-Chief absolutely deserves.

John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis

Before John Cena went to war with Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules, he accused Raw and SmackDown General Manager John Laurinaitis of trying to put him "out of business" by bringing Brock back to WWE.

Now, it looks like the power-hungry GM wants to personally eradicate Cena from WWE.

Still nursing the wounds from his punishing clash with Brock, the Cenation leader was asked to meet Laurinaitis in the ring on Raw SuperShow for a face-to-face talk, in which the GM would reveal who Cena's opponent at WWE Over the Limit would be. At first, it appeared that Lord Tensai was Laurinaitis' hand-picked Superstar, but following an unbelievable 3-on-1 assault, the choice became brutally clear: Laurinaitis will be the man who goes one-on-one with Cena on May 20.

On repeated occasions since WrestleMania XXVIII, Laurinaitis made it known which Superstar he believes represents the future of WWE, and it's definitely not Cena. The Raw and SmackDown General Manager proved he's willing to do whatever it takes to keep Brock happy by agreeing to the outrageous contract demands laid out by the behemoth prior to Extreme Rules.

Against all odds, Cena overcame the seemingly-unstoppable Lesnar in an Extreme Rules Match, but it still wasn't enough to convince Laurinaitis that it's the 10-time WWE Champion, not Brock, who rightfully deserves to be called the "face of WWE." Then, in a shocking confrontation on Raw SuperShow, Laurinaitis made his boldest power play yet, attacking and mocking Cena while his left arm was still healing.

Cena isn't the first Superstar to tangle with arguably the most polarizing figure in WWE. It was just a few months ago when WWE Champion CM Punk had it out with Laurinaitis, even going so far as to knock him out with the Go To Sleep on the Jan. 23 edition of Raw SuperShow. However, Laurinaitis didn't let his scuffles with Punk derail his quest to remain the dominant decision-making force on WWE programming, and he later took control of SmackDown in addition to Raw with a resounding victory over Team Teddy at WrestleMania.

At WWE Over the Limit, just three weeks will have passed since Cena's savage battle against Lesnar at Extreme Rules. Will the Cenation leader be able to recover in time for his collision with the Raw and SmackDown GM? John Laurinaitis ambushed John Cena, revealed that he will face him at WWE Over the Limit

With his left arm wrapped in a sling, John Cena addressed the WWE Universe and recounted his grueling Extreme Rules Match against Brock Lesnar. Raw and SmackDown GM John Laurinaitis told Cena that he should be thanking him for "motivating" the Cenation leader to perform to his maximum potential. Irked by Laurinaitis' show of ego, Cena then fired back by hurling a slew of insults at the GM. (PHOTOS | VIDEO)

As Laurinaitis was about to reveal Cena's opponent for WWE Over the Limit, Lord Tensai's music hit and Cena soon found himself surrounded by both the Japanese warrior and his manager, Sakamoto.

Suddenly, Laurinaitis ambushed Cena from behind and whacked him in the back of the head with the microphone. Both Sakamoto and Tensai followed with shots of their own on the Cenation leader as Laurinaitis shocked the WWE Universe by revealing that he will be the man who faces Cena at WWE Over the Limit. While Tensai held Cena's injured arm across the ring steps, Laurinaitis stomped on it and slammed a steel chair on the exposed limb. Finally, Laurinaitis mocked Cena with his "You can't see me" signature hand gesture in the center of the ring as the Dayton, Ohio, crowd let loose with boos.
